Bad Spatial Data Produces Confidently Wrong Decisions

Maps look authoritative, but spatial data is not neutral. Inaccurate, inconsistent, or incomplete GIS data can make decisions appear certain while being fundamentally wrong.

  • Bad coordinates → misallocated resources

  • Outdated layers → flawed risk assessments

  • Inconsistent standards → misleading insights

Before acting on spatial intelligence, ensure data quality, governance, and validation. Otherwise, confidence becomes a liability.

Lesson: A beautiful map is useless if the data behind it is broken.
