One Camel Is Not Like Another — Why Averages Are Dangerous

One of the most persistent mistakes I see in animal systems is reliance on averages.

During this project, one camel consistently showed higher stress duration than the others under identical conditions. An average-based system would have declared everything normal.

This reinforced something I’ve learned repeatedly: individual baselines matter more than group benchmarks.

AI makes individual welfare visible. Without it, suffering hides inside averages.
